Verification Letter of JFK Rocker, Music Room Chairs and Nixon Candlesticks
John F. Kennedy Rocking Chair

This rocker was used often by John F. Kennedy and the former White House staffer I obtained this from said he often would load this rocker on Air Force One for trips and take it to Camp David for use by the President when relaxing at the Presidential retreat.  This appears to have been purchased by the Kennedy family for JFK’s use .  Lyndon Johnson kept the chair and used it often himself during his term and continued to be transported for the President’s use to Camp David, Air Force One and the Presidential Yacht.

A nearly identical chair was brought into JFK's suite room in Houston on November 21, 1963 for his visit to Texas and this photograph was taken November 22, 1963 after he left for Fort Worth and Dallas showing the room and the rocker.  He had many rockers similar to mine.
This rocker was sold in Hantman's Political Memorabilia Auction on 10-23-2004 and was the rocker given by President John F. Kennedy to Cardinal Richard J. Cushing of Boston along with provenance provided by the Daughters of St. Paul of Boston with notarized documentation that Cardinal Cushing had received as a gift from JFK and given to them.  Another rocker nearly identical to my rocker.
Over the years, Cardinal Cushing officiated at Kennedy’s wedding, met with him on many occasions and delivered the eulogy at his funeral. Cardinal Cushing considered this chair his favorite rocking chair and kept it in his private residence. The Cardinal later gave it as a gift to the order of the Daughters of St. Paul, a Boston order of sisters of which he was particularly fond. The Daughters of St. Paul kept the rocker in the convent’s Cushing Hall guest room for many years. This lot comes with two photographs of Cardinal Cushing and the notarized testimony of two sisters who were present when the Cardinal announced to the Daughters of St. Paul that he was giving them the rocking chair that JFK had given to him. It had estimated value of $10,000-$20,000.

White House Music Room LYRE BACK Set of 4 Chairs

Solid mahogany, rich and deep in color,  these were manufactured by Tell City Chair Co. of Indiana in 1949 and were bought by the Truman White House with no expense spared in their purchase.  Jackie Kennedy used famous designer Olig Cassini to renew and recover the chairs during her renovation of the White House and his name is stamped on the wood on the bottom of each on the wood.  The music lyre design was first introduced into furniture design in the early 19th Century.  They were used in the Green Room, sometimes called the Music Room until August 1965.  The list of heads of state, Presidents and world-famous musicians and writers is long and impressive and were used extensively by all the Presidents.  On the bottom of each chair is an old metal plate that reads "The White House" followed by "MR" and an inventory control number.

Good Vs. Evil

To commemorate the signing on Dec. 8, 1987 by President George Bush and Soviet Premier Gorbachev of the INF Nuclear Treaty,  Zurab Tsereteli, Artist-Laureate of the Soviet Union created this as one of only 160 desktop pieces signed and numbered by him.  The artist used actual pieces of the U.S. Pershing 2 Nuclear missle which had been pointed at the USSR, and the Soviet’s SS-20 nuclear missle which had been pointed toward NATO forces in Western Europe.  I had President Bush to autograph this one on a visit with him in his Houston office in 2003.  The missle fragments are mounted into a polished fossilized limestone base.  A bronze olive branch, universal symbol of peach encircles the bronze medallion.

Peace Missile Golf Club - #2 Wood made from Nuclear Bombs

"Peace Missile" golf club made from recycled ICBM NUCLEAR MISSILES from Russia and USA.  That is as in "InterContinental Ballistic Missiles".   Historically, these were made from Russian SS-23 ICSM's and USA Polaris A-3 ICBM's.  These were produced for PGA Pro Cary Schuman.  The #2 wood has a red shaft and the shaft is labeled "The Peace Missile -Russian SS-23 / USA Polaris A-3" ; Ultralite Graphite Shaft and Made in USA.  The head is labeled  the same.  It is also labeled "10.5 degree loft" and "Peace Missile 2".   According to a Las Vegas Sun article, the head is made for 15-5 stainless steel, heat treated to 1100 degrees Fahrenheit.  This is a #2 Wood, red graphite shaft, recycled Missile head.  Size:  Shaft length to top of head grommet is 41".  Overall length is 45.5".

Peace Missile Driver has disarming effect Tuesday, Jan. 13, 1998  .BRIAN HILDERBRAND is a Las Vegas SUN sportswriter. His golf column appears Tuesdays. He can be reached on the Internet at bh@lasvegassun.com.  Cary Schuman still recalls the historic day in 1986 when the United States and the former Soviet Union signed the nuclear disarmament treaty which, for all intents and purposes, signaled the end of the cold war.Schuman, however, remembers the day differently than most Americans. Aside from the historical significance of the treaty, Schuman was intrigued by the commercial possibilities of obtaining the country's old nuclear missiles."When they announced that the Russians were going to blow up their missiles and we were going to dismantle ours, I thought at that time that it would be neat to get some missile parts," Schuman said.It would be nine years before Schuman would get his hands on some surplus Russian missile parts -- and the professional golfer knew exactly what he wanted to do with them. After obtaining surplus Russian SS-23 and American Polaris A-3 missiles, Schuman decided to melt them down and use the material to make golf clubs. The result was the Peace Missile Driver, the Peace Putter and the second-generation driver, the Peace Missile 2000. The Peace Missile drivers are not only a collector's item with historical significance. Schuman calls the driver one of the best clubs on the market."We melt the missiles down and combine them with 15-5 stainless steel and the key is to heat treat them to 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit to strengthen them," Schuman, president of Peace Missile Inc., explained. "Now you have a club that's almost as light, almost as strong as titanium but with the feel of stainless steel, which almost everybody prefers."It's better than anything on the market, plus it's also a commemorative item and an historic item because of its composite material and political implications."When it comes to drivers, Schuman knows of what he speaks. The former Asian and European touring pro holds the accepted world record for the longest drive at 463 yards, 10 inches -- at sea level. Schuman set the record in 1991 during a PGA-sanctioned long-drive contest at Royal Fox Golf Club in St. Charles, Ill.  Although Schuman has yet to mass market the Peace Missile Drivers, he said response to the clubs have been overwhelming."We've been selling them on the Internet and we're going to do an infomercial -- that's our main focus now," said Schuman, who was in Las Vegas last week to put on a long-drive demonstration during the DirecTV Charity Golf Classic at the Desert Inn Golf Club. "Our newer model is the Peace Missile 2000, to commemorate the new millenium."Schuman said that President Clinton, an avid golfer, carries a Peace Missile Driver in his golf bag.

White House State Bedroom Table

Made by American of Martinsville of solid wood and ornate design. it was bought in early 1960 by Mamie Eisenhower to use in the State Bedroom which was used for visiting heads of state although not delivered until JFK moved into the White House.  They were brand new when the King of Spain and his family visited President John F. Kennedy and Jackie on a State Visit.  The King’s children used crayons to mark inside the drawers as well as the outside of this table and many other pieces of furniture during their stay.   Despite efforts to clean it the inside was still stained and the table had to be replaced.  There is a brass plate on the bottom that reads "The White House BR 732 7-60"  The plate is split in two but still attached which we are told indicated when an item then was damaged and had to be replaced as in this night stand.
